TAX NEWS : International Living Magazine recommends Malta as the best place to live

Thursday, 13 January 2011 18:19

International Living Magazine has recommended Malta as the best place to live.  It stated in a quality of life survey prepared by the magazine that two countries tied first place for the best climate in the world, but only one, Malta, stood out.  Malta benefits from a low crime rate with excellent health care and ocean views and a flat 15% tax rate.

Malta is the ideal place for expats seeking a quite and safe place in the Mediterranean. The report stated that "Crime hardly exists, the locals are hospitable and the health care is excellent. There aren’t any property taxes and the US expats who benefit most from living here are those who somehow retain some earnings from elsewhere that they then elect to get taxed in Malta, at 15%."

Expat Barbara Bode said she had grown to love the lifestyle, food and quality of life when she lived in Malta.  “The sunny, hot summers marked by fireworks announcing Saints’ Day festivals of music, dancing, and food… Every day is like a holiday,” she said.

Europe is at your doorstep with daily international flights from Malta's international airport and regular 90-minute ferry service to Sicily. Rome is but one hour away by plane and the sister island of Gozo is fantastic for weekend trips, only 30 minutes away by ferry.  Malta is truly the hidden gem of the Mediterranean.
