MARITIME LAW NEWS: New Guidelines on the VAT Treatment of Short-Term Yacht Chartering In Malta

Thursday, 22 August 2013 13:07

New ‘Guidelines on the VAT Treatment of Short-Term Yacht Chartering’ have been recently published by the Department responsible for Value Added Tax (VAT) in Malta which primarily contemplate that no VAT would be charged on any of the supplies provided in Malta but consumed or enjoyed elsewhere outside the waters of EU Member States. These new guidelines which are subject to certain conditions are considered as a positive step and indeed, are expected to further enhance Malta’s already successful maritime industry.

Advocates, Tanti-Dougall & Associates' professional services include the maritime sector. A copy of the relative guidelines can be provided on request.
